November 29, 2012

The alleged kingpin of the PGI’s MD/MS examination scam had a plan to cheat in two more examinations. This was disclosed by the complainant in the complaint made to the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER).

The complainant had written in the complaint letter that the alleged kingpin Gurivi Reddy was planning to cheat in two other examinations for the MD/MS courses.

The complainant had said in the complaint, “The gang was planning a similar thing in the examination of MD/MS courses in AIIMS and NEET exams”.

The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) conducted their exam on November 18.

The National Eligibility and Entrance Test (NEET) conducted by the Medical Council of India is being conducted from November 23 and will go on till December 6.

In these two examinations as well, the same modus operandi was to be followed. One of the CBI officials confirmed that during interrogation by the officials, the plan to cheat in the AIIMS examination and NEET examination had surfaced. “A similar thing had emerged while investigating the accused, but no conclusive evidence was found,” said the official.

Gurivi Reddy and fourteen others were nabbed by the Central Bureau of Investigation sleuths after the agency received a complaint from PGIMER.

A copy of the complaint was also sent to the UT police the same day but no action was taken by the police. Gurivi Reddy, the alleged kingpin was arrested from a hotel in Chandigarh.

At the same time, seven dummy candidates were arrested from four examination centers who had entered the examination hall with smart phones to leak the question paper of PGI’s MD/MS examination.

Later, a doctor was arrested from Patna, Dr Gangadhar Reddy, who was the co-conspirator along with Gurivi Reddy.
