Bail application of PGI scam accused dismissed

November 24, 2012

A local court on Friday dismissed the bail application which was moved by P Siddhartha, one of the accused allegedly involved in leaking the question paper during PGI’s MD/MS exam on November 21. As per orders by the court, the release of the accused at this stage of the case might hamper the investigation process.

Counsel for CBI, Manmohan Sharma said, “The investigation of the case is at a very crucial stage as yet. The release of even a single accused on bail may hinder with the investigations”.

He also added that the gravity of the crime is such that if Siddhartha is granted bail, there is a chance that he may tamper with the evidence. “These conspirators are playing with the future of those students who actually work hard and prepare for such exams,” said Sharma.

P Siddhartha was arrested by sleuths of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), from the same hotel in Sector 35 from where the alleged kingpin, Gurivi Reddy, was arrested.

The CBI claims that he was arrested from the hotel and a bag was recovered from him in which specially stitched jackets were brought from Andhra Pradesh to Chandigarh. But, the counsel for the accused claim that during the preliminary investigations, the CBI was not able to establish anything after Siddhartha was questioned.
