November 23, 2012

NEET PG is going to be held from 23nd November, 2012 as scheduled, informed officials.  K Ratna Kishore, Principal Secretary, Health, Medical and Family Welfare informed on 22nd November, 2012 that NEET PG will be conducted as scheduled and there should not be any doubts in that.

Andhra Pradesh High Court has issued an interim stay on conducting NEET PG in Andhra Pradesh but the case is now in Supreme Court. Supreme Court adjourned the case to 27th November, 2012. As a result no decision could be taken regarding NEET PG. As no orders are issued by MCI, NEET PG will be conducted as scheduled, he said. He also informed that the state government has no right to stop the exam.

As soon as MCI issue NEET-PGnotification, State government of Andhra Pradesh and private medical colleges inAndhra Pradesh approached High Courtrequesting exemption from NEET PG.Andhra Pradesh government requested that they will join NEET PG from 2014.High court has issued interim stay on this. The case is now in Supreme Court for hearing.

The hearing of the NEET PG case was for hearing on 22nd November, 2012 but is postponed to 27th November, 2012. No judgment is given by Supreme Court and Medical Council of India also did not inform anything to Andhra Pradesh government.

Medical Council of India decided to conduct a common national entrance test forpost graduation courses in medicine and post graduate diploma courses in medicine admissions. The notification was issued on 23rd September, 2012. It is scheduled to be conducted from 23rd November to 6th December, 2012. Everyday there will be two online exams.

As the state government of Andhra Pradesh filed a case in High Court requesting exemption from NEET PG, it was not sure whether the students should appear from NEET PG or not. Nearly 15,000 students who passed MBBS applied online for NEET PG. There are only two exam centers in Andhra Pradesh which are Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam. Those who could not reserve a slot in these two exam centers chose other states such as Maharashtra, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. There are few students who chose far away states to appear for the exam.

As the Principal Secretary K Ratna Kishore announced that NEET PG is conducted as scheduled and medical students of Andhra Pradesh need to appear for exam for seeking admission into post graduate medical courses, the students who chose other states as exam centers are facing many difficulties.
