AIIMS Waves Red Flag for Organizing NEET-PG

October 6, 2011

A week ago when Medical Council of India (MCI) approached All India Institute of Medical Studies (AIIMS) for seeking support to conduct the first ever National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Postgraduate studies (NEET-PG), AIIMS has reportedly expressed it’s inability to conduct common medical entrance test nation wide.

AIIMS had backed off stating that the man power and infrastructure what AIIMS’s have is not sufficiently large enough to conduct the mass common medical entrance test.

This will be a major set back for the medical education regulatory body MCI, however the notification on MCI website still reads as “The common entrance test (CET) for admission to Medical Post-graduate Courses across the country i.e. National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test for Medical Postgraduate Courses – MD/MS/Diploma (NEET-PG ) shall be held in Jan-Feb 2012 for admissions in the academic year 2012-2013. The syllabus is that of MBBS described in the MCI Regulations on Graduate Medical Education, 1997. The multiple choice questions (MCQs) would be based on the MBBS syllabus as well as the knowledge that needs to be acquired during internship which is also described in the said Regulations. The distribution of questions, model questions and method of tie breaking for ranking would be placed on the website in the due course.”

The two versions are entirely different while media has been mentioning the difficulties faced by MCI in connection with NEET; MCI had not broken silence and kept it a top secret. The question still remains, whether MCI will hold NEET-PG? If so when, what is exam pattern, syllabus? Same case with NEET-UG as well no official announcement yet.

Confusion still remains, we will publish latest update on NEET PG & NEET UG, stay tuned!
